The Alma Jordan Library (AJL), in collaboration with the St. Augustine Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (STACIE) - formerly known as The Office of Research Development and Knowledge Transfer (ORDKT), The University of the West Indies (UWI) St. Augustine Campus and the Trinidad and Tobago Intellectual Property Office (TTIPO) of the Ministry of the Attorney General and Legal Affairs provides this Intellectual Property Help Desk Service.

The objective of The UWI Intellectual Property (IP) Help Desk is geared to enable the entire UWI St. Augustine campus community, to have ease of access to education, information, training and advisory services in the field of IP. This intervention is strategic, and the initiative comes at an opportune time when The UWI, St. Augustine is placing greater emphasis on innovation and entrepreneurship, and an increase in IP disclosure for inventions is envisaged.

    The University of the West Indies (UWI), St Augustine Campus - Intellectual Property Help Desk – Official Launch. The facility located at the Alma Jordan Library (AJL), was officially opened by Miss Louise van Gruenen, Director Building Respect for Intellectual Property Division of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Geneva. Prof. Stephen Gift, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Graduate Studies and Research - The UWI, Mr. Regan Asgarali, Controller the Trinidad and Tobago Intellectual Property Office (TTIPO), Mr Lallo Ramlal, Specialist in Technical Information – (TTIPO), and Mr. Michael Edenborough QC and WIPO Consultant.     The IP Help Desk is a collaboration with the University of the West Indies – St Augustine Campus, Office of Research Development and Knowledge Transfer (ORDKT), currently the St Augustine Centre for Innovation & Entrepreneurship (STACIE), and the Trinidad & Tobago Intellectual Property Office (TTIPO) - Ministry of the Attorney General & Legal Affairs.

    The IP Help Desk provides the St Augustine campus community provides complementary access to education, information, training and consultancy services, facilitated by the TTIPO - the Ministry of the Attorney General and Legal Affairs consultants. And, also promotes enrollment in the online Distance Learning IP course for staff and students, by the WIPO Worldwide Academy.

The Help Desk is located on the ground floor of the library along the eastern wing in the area of the STARRS Computing Lab and the Reserves 24/7 Reading Room.
